An Eclipse of the Sun occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the earth so that the Sun is completely obscured. This can happen only when the Sun and moon are in conjunction, as seen from Earth. Conjunction occurs when the Moon is between the Earth and the Sun. Similarly, but with one important difference, a lunar eclipse can only occur during the night, when the Earth is between the Sun and the moon. This event can occur only at full moon
So, when our Creator said Amos "Will darken the Earth in clear day" (Amos 8: 9), who was using his event of creation which he had set in motion during the week of seven days of creation. The event is taken as the orbit of the Moon, Earth, and together they orbit around the Sun.
A total solar eclipse can be a frightening experience for people who are not aware of the astronomical explanation, because the Sun seems to disappear in the middle of the day and the sky darkens rapidly. This happened the darkest day in history: "and it was the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the Earth until the ninth hour. And the Sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in their midst. " (Lk. 23: 44-45).
The day of crucifixion, that the Moon was in conjuction, because it is the only time that can occur an Eclipse of the Sun. The darkest day in the history of success as the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth. Therefore, the two main lights of creation that has registered the biggest event ever to happen to our planet.
The solar eclipse at that darkest day nearly two thousand years ago can be found the exact calendar day on which the crucifixion occurred. The US Navy Observatory and NASA astronomical data back to that day, when the Messiah was sacrificed for our sins.
